Knowing how to regulate self-motivation and drive

Remove blocks to being and doing your best at all times.

You might have always been a top performer in high school, college or university or other jobs.   Up until now, there is really very little, if any, competition.  That's good in the sense that it's great to be the best in something you love so you can develop a sense of confidence and a personal sense of self.

But as you succeed in life and as you get to the next level the competition will stiffen.

This is true in whatever you do.  As you advance, you need to get even better.

This is where ‘Performance Advantage EMDR helps.

When the top performers meet they are competing against people at the same skill level, the same ability to focus, all with high motivation - Performance Advantage EMDR sets them apart!

The Benefits

Having positive self-talk even in the most difficult situations.

We are always talking to ourselves, sometimes we say good things that ‘pump us up’ and sometimes we don’t.  Student performers often ‘get down on themselves‘ when, in fact, self-encouragement and ‘positive thinking‘ would be much more productive.

Having self-confidence that comes from within instead of without.

Doing our best to try to please others works for awhile but is really ‘externally’ based and can be draining and demoralizing.  It’s much better - a more energizing and a stronger driving force - when our self-confidence and motivation comes from within.

Having the ability to move into flow, consciously and with intent.

One of the effects of EMDR is to help people shift into the present moment, which is where ‘flow action‘ happens.  Experiencing being ‘present‘ with EMDR, paired with ‘anchoring’ that presence in session, helps student performers access it later, during their performance, when it counts the most.

Knowing when the game is turning (mentally and emotionally) before it turns on the  field.

Usually, by the time we realize that things are not going our way - that is, that the ‘momentum‘ has shifted - it’s too late.  We have to play catch up and overcome not only the game but also our thoughts and emotions.  With Performance Advantage EMDR we learn to tune into our ‘inner sense‘ of how things are going giving us the advantage of turning things around before it’s too late!

Being able to stay calm, focused, and grounded even in the most difficult  situations.

While some student performers may use anger and frustration to ‘get themselves going‘, those ‘negative‘ emotions can become blocks to thinking clearly and making great choices during the midst of tense, highly stressful activities.  With EMDR, we resolve and integrate ‘conditioned emotional patterns‘ which then opens us up to be able to focus and concentrate during all phases of a sport, test, or performance.

Knowing how to regulate self-motivation and drive

In order to perform the high levels, we need to be able to ‘regulate’ and manage our motivation and drive.  There are many times when self-motivation needs to increase so we can perform at the highest level even when things are at a lull.  On the other hand, it is possible to be ‘too over the top’ when we’re over-reacting and actually working against ourselves.  With EMDR, we help student performers learn to be like The Three Bear’s soup - not too hot, not too cold, but ‘just right.’

EMDR Top Ten List

One of the tasks in EMDR therapy is to make a list of the ten most highly charged emotional things that have happened to you.  Usually, this would be over your lifetime; however, this could also be for a recent trauma or event that would have several different aspects to it.

We do this to help identify targets upon which to do the EMDR processing.

  • Think of times when you were emotionally upset.
  • Something unfair, threatenting or life-threatening was done to you or someone close to you.
  • You witnessesed or experienced an emotionally charged event.

Take it easy on yourself when doing it.

Notice how difficult it is to start it.

Notice feelings that arise while doing it.

Notice that these things all have an

Isolating Unnecessary Eating

By using Isagenix during the Thanksgiving holidays, I was able to see how disordered and out-of-balance my eating is.  Because the Isa-meals are simple, healthy and filling, their use shines a light on the part of eating I do that is not necessary, but I do anyway.  (And it doesn't take much

How To Do Powerful Affirmations

I've always been leary of affirmations.  After all, does Ross Perot have to write on his mirror, "I am rich" over and over, or does he just know it?

But I do think it is a good idea to point the mind towards the positive, towards what is wanted.  While I think that is important to clear out emotionally old emotional habits with tools such as EMDR, it is also good to know what to put it its place.

The following way to do affirmations...
