About the retreat

Comments from 2019 Retreat

• I’ve never had “mindfulness” explained so well. The information from neuroscience was invaluable. I will use it immediately in my practice.
• Was impressed with the way he explained some very difficult concepts. Arrived at the workshop thinking that I would probably not apply the principles and practices of The Presence Process, and left knowing that I must apply these practices in my life.
• The best thing I learned was that the Body Scan and BLS can help with highly dyrsegulated clients. It will help the client to learn self-regulation by coming back to the breath our and over.
• Very knowledgeable about the brain, concepts, etc. The practicum was helpful in the use of EMDR & Mindfulness.
• Mediation handouts very helpful and useful!
• This training both was a personal retreat - due to the setting & I learned current literature on mindfulness.
• Really found the concepts in the book (The Presence Process) helpful!
• The training allowed the participants to go deeper into their own work.
• Practicums and diagrams were always great! The discussions were great. Mindfulness scripts were great, too!
• This training will help enhance the EMDR practice with clients, as well as increase empathy as therapist when practiced ourselves.
• You (Jose) and Jordan have been such a great team and fun, open to many suggestions and ideas, genuine. You have so much knowledge to share. I’m really grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from you. Your positivity & joy radiate from you, inspiring me to continue with this information for myself and my clients.

Jose's Part

The premise of the adaptive information processing (AIP) model is to mindfully process information in the present while accessing traumatic information from the past. I will focus on how to access traumatic information using mindfulness strategies and EMDR techniques to increase affect tolerance and reprocess trauma. I will also present the latest research on neuroscience as it relates to mindfulness and EMDR.
