I’m leaving in the morning to attend “The Art of EMDR” workshop in Ontario, Canada. ย This workshop has been recommended to me by a couple of friends who have been there and done that.
What I’m hoping to get from this experience is to meet my “Internal Family” – not only my inner child but all his brothers and sisters, too.
The workshop is limited to 18 EMDR Therapists, and as I understand it, we work on our own stuff, and we trade off and work with others on their stuff.
I think it’s true, that if I want to invite myย clients to meย their Internal Family Systems then I need to meet mine, as well.
I’m really looking forward to spending a long weekend doing some intense inner work, in a beautiful setting on the Canadian side ofย Niagara Falls. ย From experience, I know that these kinds of trainings can be emotionally painful, intimidating ย and,ย in the end, gratifying andย exhilarating. ย Butย like an old professor once said, “If you’re not cryin’ and snottin’ then ain’tย doing the work.”
We’ll see.
