This is a LIVE, Online 2-day EMDRIA Approved Webinar Course

Presented by Dr. Jose Carbajal, this EMDR refresher course will cover the standard of EMDR therapy. Updated research on special populations and the AIP theory will be provided. Participants will have the opportunity to practice the dissociative table as a stabilization strategy. The format is intended to be interactive with discussion, lecture, and practice.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the eight phases of the EMDR therapy protocol.
  • Explain the standard of EMDR therapy.
  • Identify and explain how to apply the 3-prong approach to EMDR therapy.
  • Describe the current literature on EMDR therapy, AIP theory, and special populations.
  • Strategize how to integrate the dissociative table into EMDR therapy.
  • Apply and demonstrate EMDR therapy using the dissociative table.
  • Summarize the refresher course content during discussion, lecture, and practicum.

This refresher intends to offer more of the nuances of EMDR therapy with an advanced strategy to help regulate clients. The eight phases of EMDR therapy with the 3-prong approach will be covered more specifically, addressing the nuances while maintaining fidelity to EMDR therapy.

Participants will learn about current research on EMDR therapy, AIP theory, and special populations (e.g., children, addictions, neurodiversity, etc.). The format of this workshop is a roundtable discussion and experiential, with space for participants to discuss their experience using EMDR therapy, successes and failures, and receive feedback from peers as the presenter discusses EMDR therapy standards and fidelity.

Meet Jose

Dr. Jose Carbajal attended Baylor University after his tenure in the U.S. Army, where he received his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in social work and theological studies. He completed his Ph.D. in Social Work at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Jose has several publications and he has conducted many professional presentations and trainings. Jose’s research focus is on the interventions clinicians use to treat trauma, neuroscience, and faith.

Jose has over 15 years of clinical experience and he has extensive teaching experience, leading seminars, and workshops. Dr. Carbajal is EMDR Certified, an Approved Consultant, an EMDRIA Approved Trainer in EMDR, and a CompassionWorks Lead Trainer.

If cancellation is more than 4 days before the workshop start date then a full refund of the amount paid minus a $35 administrative fee is given.

If cancellation is 3 days or less before the workshop start date, no refund is given.

On the dates of this workshop, 6/28/24 and 6/29/24 at 9:00 am Central Time, you will access the Zoom.us link to the live instruction through the CompassionWorks.com user account you created upon checkout. The workshop will be located under My Courses when you click on your username.

You will need to be able to have a quiet space for participation with your fully functioning computer connected to the internet. Your computer must have full audio and video capabilities.   Using a Chrome or Firefox browser is preferred.  If you need to attend by smartphone, while not ideal, is also possible. Dr. Amber Quaranta-Leech, LPC-S

Amber holds a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Regent University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in both Texas and Oklahoma and holds Supervisor credential for Texas. Amber is an EMDRIA consultant and trainer. She has over a decade of experience in the trauma field in work with uniformed services, domestic violence, childhood trauma and abuse, and recent mass trauma events. Amber provides consultation for EMDRIA certification, for consultants-in-training, and supervision for LPC-Associates. Amber continues to research the benefits of EMDR therapy with a variety of populations. Her goal is to help build strong clinicians who are well versed in trauma interventions to better support their clients. Amber sees a limited number of clients with a focus on trauma work, she is also a Certified Career Counselor and Certified through EAGALA to provide equine-assisted therapy. 

Dr. Jose Carbajal, LCSW

Dr. Jose Carbajal, a U.S. Army veteran, earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work and a master’s in theological studies from Baylor University, and a Ph.D. in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. With over 15 years of clinical experience and extensive teaching experience, Jose specializes in trauma, sexual abuse recovery, domestic violence, and substance abuse. His research focuses on trauma interventions, neuroscience, and faith. He is EMDR Certified, an Approved Consultant, and an EMDRIA Approved Trainer, with numerous publications and professional presentations to his name.

Dr. Amanda Martin, LMFT-S, LPC, BCN

Amanda Martin holds a PhD in Family Therapy and is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Supervisor, and EMDRIA Approved Consultant. With over 14 years of experience, she specializes in trauma therapy for individuals and families in residential and outpatient settings. Amanda also provides supervision for EMDR certification, EMDR consultants-in-training, and LMFT-Associates. Her mission is to help people find a healthy, joyful, and fulfilling path in life. Her warm, supportive, and interactive counseling style incorporates Symbolic Experiential Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, HeartMath, Animal-Assisted Therapy, Neurofeedback, and Collaborative Problem Solving.
