I graduated from Our Lady of the Lake University with a masters in social work with an emphasis on studies of Hispanic children and families. During my career I have volunteered at a child advocacy center, worked in residential and outpatient substance use treatment as well as psychiatric hospitals. I have a passion for working with those battling mental illness and/or addiction and their families. I have experience with individual therapy sessions, family sessions and CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness and experiential groups.
Often when people come to therapy they are seeking a change in their life. As an experiential therapist, I believe change happens from changing one’s perspective. In my approach I support my clients with unconditional positive regard to help them reach their goals and maximize their potential. My areas of focus include: addiction, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, grief, trauma, life transitions, codependency, relationship issues, and family conflict. In sessions I utilize Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), principles of Dialectical Behavioral therapy (DBT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Outside of work, I love to cook, watch true crime, play board games with family, go hiking with my dogs and go camping. I also love to challenge myself in the gym or practicing yoga.
