This webinar is designed for mental health practitioners at all levels of experience and practice settings. In-depth techniques and strategies for preparing clients to begin processing phases 3-7 and phase 8 are explained and discussed.

EMDR therapy is effective and useful to most clients with proper preparation. This training provides a structured and step-by-step method to gather a thorough history and prepare clients for EMDR phases 3-8 in four to five therapy sessions.

Objectives: Describe a step-by-step process for Phases One and Two (History and Preparation) in EMDR to prepare clients for phases 3-8 (Assessment, Desensitization, etc). The training provides a guide to assist therapists with gathering adequate information, recognizing client readiness for EMDR, identifying client needs in the preparation phase, and creating a treatment plan for EMDR reprocessing.

    1. Explain a brief overview of the AIP Model
    2. Explain a step-by-step guide for the client history phase
    3. Demonstrate treatment planning technique and sample forms
    4. Identify a step-by-step guide for the preparation phase
    5. Demonstrate stabilization exercises during the Preparation Phase

Treatment planning techniques will be shown for the sequencing of targets. Demonstrations of stabilization exercises to help clients build skills in their ego strength and affect tolerance. New methods for resource development and installation are included with live demonstrations and a scripted handout.

A workbook, forms, and a quick reference guide are included with the training.

Amanda Martin, Ph.D., LMFT-S, LPC, BCN, Eagala MH graduated from Texas Woman’s University and is a native Texan. She specializes in working with people and families with trauma histories in residential and outpatient settings. She has a Ph.D. in Family Therapy and has the following licenses: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Supervisor, Licensed Professional Counselor, Board Certified in Neurofeedback, and Mental Health Eagala Professional. Amanda is EMDR Certified, an Approved EMDR Consultant, an EMDR Trainer, and a CompassionWorks Lead Trainer.
