The Art of EMDR…
I’m leaving in the morning to attend “The Art of EMDR” workshop in Ontario, Canada. This workshop has been recommended to me by a couple of friends who have been there and done that.
What I’m hoping to get from this experience is to meet my “Internal Family” – not only my inner child but all his brothers and sisters, too.
The workshop is limited to 18 EMDR Therapists, and as I understand it, we work on our own stuff, and we trade off and work with others on their stuff.
I think it’s true, that if I want to invite my clients to me their Internal Family Systems then I need to meet mine, as well.
I’m really looking forward to spending a long weekend doing some intense inner work, in a beautiful setting on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. From experience, I know that these kinds of trainings can be emotionally painful, intimidating and, in the end, gratifying and exhilarating. But like an old professor once said, “If you’re not cryin’ and snottin’ then ain’t doing the work.”
We’ll see.
